A little illusion.

Illusion is the first of all pleasures. Oscar Wilde.I enjoy the sort of art that teases the mind. Not the sort that moves & hurts the eyes but the sort that sees reality in 2 different ways. It amuses me.

I think it's very clever.

I enjoy the shift in reality; the point at which a thing becomes something else.

Or in looking at one thing something hidden is suddenly revealed.
I have trouble with geometrics but I can always find faces. They're good, aren't they?

Mmmm, we've just visited the Dali exhibition on in Melbourne at the mo. You would be fascinated!

Thank you for visiting, Jeanne. I love Dali! One of my very favourites! ☺

I used to live near to St. Petersburg, FL where the Salvador Dali museum resides. I so enjoy his work! (He painted tigers in some works and you know how I love my tigers. LOL) Illusion is creation within creation. Such wonderful talent!

I never learned much about art myself during my public school days as a child. I just love art and art history now with my girls as I felt cheated. So much of homeschooling is that way for me..I am learning probably alongside of them just as much. I love all sorts of art. These are some intriguing examples and I tend to like things that make me look twice. ;)

Can I be the contradiction here? I like my art to be simple. I don't want to think too much about it. I want instantanious beauty! :) Nothing too weird, thank you very much.
Either I am incredibly brave for stating that - or incredibly stupid!

lol, Britwife. I'll introduce you to my mum. ☺ She'd agree with you. Personally it's anything geometic that does my head in. I don't get the geometric thing at all.

I'm with Britwife. Art should be simple and preferably geometric.

I think I've learnt more about you on this blog that I have from knowing you for over 20 years :-) I love Dali too. And Magritte, and Escher (though I'm not sure that they don't fit into the geometric schema. Maybe both.)

It must be the year of the Ds. I missed Degas in Canberra earlier this year; now I'm missing Dali in Melbourne - sigh...

Siano: all those late night discussions & we never got round to discussing Dali & Escher?! You sure?! BTW, I actually like Escher. All those stairs going nowhere! ☺

Skewed reality with stairs going nowhere reminds me too much of what goes on in my own mind. I start with a plan. I begin working on it. Then I realize, somewhere along the way, I have absolutely not a clue where I was going after all or I know where I want to go but have not a clue as to how to get there from where I am now. It is quite amazing that someone can create a visual representation of mind workings. ;)

Seeking! Perfect. No wonder I like these things. Visual representations of the warped turns my mind takes!

Hi Ganeida,
I love things that disappear and become something else. I love art, full stop.
