Brissie's turn now.

The only thing that stops God sending another flood is that the first one was useless. ~ Chamfort.

Where we walked all during December along the Southbank boardwalk is now under water.  The city cats [ferries] have been moved out to sea.  There's not much to say really.  All that water coming down the rivers has finally arrived. Pics here.

What a day! What a week! What a year 2011 will be remembered as!
How is you little island home fairing?

Ruby, we will only really be affected by higher tides & road damage. We are high but I am trying to avoid travelling. Realistically it was only a matter of time till all that water arrived but the long term effects will only gradually be realized.

As I was going through the photos I was listening to the news report about this. Simply terrible. Water does incredible damage.

Sandra: It does. It is terrible but not the first & unlikely to be the last time this happens. The worst bit is much of our market gardens are under [so is the Briz fruit & veg market] & our mines. Lost miles of rail so the ongoing cost will be astronomical. Lots of places have it much worse. Toowoomba got the worst flash flood ever. There is a bit of blue sky this morning. Maybe the tide has turned?

Apparently a fellow that grows 80% of Aus carotts lives near Stanthorp... He might be underwater...

Very sad, but these things happen if you built on river flats.

Where I used to live in Florida, flooding was really common; it is one of the main reasons we wanted to live on a hill when we were looking for a house here.

Would you believe that we got about six inches of snow and the temperatures have been sitting right around the freezing mark? It just melts enough to be really icy as it refreezes each night. The Atlanta area is not really equipped for snow and ice, so flights have been canceled and my husband had to stay home this week. Schools have been closed every day this week so far also. All her friends have been over asking if she can play, but the poor Princess is finally well enough that she might be able to spend some time outside today.
