“May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you and all your heart might desire.” ~ Irish Blessing
We are snug as bugs inside the house but outside the wind wails.  Unseen things thump against our roof as they fly past.  We cannot seen the next point over let alone the next island.
The yard is under water.  Bit like living in the middle of a large duck pond really.  We wade out to the car ankle deep in swirling eddies.
Marlow is not impressed.  All the old salts say the weather is gearing up for the worst cyclone season we've ever had.  Like I need some more excitement in my life.

Ugh. Not a good beginning to the season. Hope you're okay...

That sounds a bit miserable. What is the ferry trip like when the weather is like this? We will get plenty more rain as well if there are lots of cyclones, which I have also heard predicted. At least we are behind mountains here and don't usually cop the full brunt of the wind. Batten down and keep safe!

Huh? Your date says it's yesterday. Did I miss something?

Jeanne: We are actually on top of a hill so the water is only lying in the low places in the yard. Unfortunately that's our route to the car!

Ruby: Having been away I have loads of washing not being done! lol. We've sat out 2 cyclones here but it's the stockpiling drives me nuts! Candles. Torches. Extra milk & bread. Taping the windows, bringing in the outside furniture & stuff. Camp stove so we can boil the billy & have something hot to eat. Yeah. That stuff.

As for the date ~ I must have posted early, before the date thingy clicked over.

Ruby: forgot the ferry question. It is miserable. The *shelters* don't shelter anyone or anything from the wind & rain so you travel damp, if not actually soaked. Umbrellas are no good so you really need some sort of slicker. The decks are usually awash & the seats wet so not real pleasant & then our parking is a nightmare so it's a 10 minute walk to the car. If it's really bad I leave Star at the jetty & bring the car to her so at least one of us is reasonably dry.

I thought of you, being farther north than we are & Amanda too I guess will be gearing up for one of those years!

Heard on the news about the rain you are all getting in qld. Having lived in darwin during the cyclone season I know what this is like. After weeks of rain the kids would get quite silly, the washing wouldn't dry and everything smelt wet. Stay safe.

Hojos: lol Tide mark round the yard this morning where all the detritus lies.

Rosemary: no worries ~ & yes it was the How to make one sort I wanted. lol Don't worry if it doesn't happen. It was one of my random thoughts. ☺

Jo: Ah yes, Darwin gets a true wet where everything you own grows mould! ☺

Gerry: Always. Inside safe & dry. ☺
