Only vegetables are happy ~ William Faulkner. We bought our land for the views ~ not the soil. The soil is clay & ironstone & it sets harder than cement.
It has taken years of mulching, clay~breaker & fertilizer to get soil that will produce tomatoes & beans. I am picking enough beans for dinner every second day & a dozen or so tomatoes every day. We can't eat them fast enough. God is good.

Ah, fresh tomatoes. I have bags and bags of tomatoes I froze from my wonderful garden bounty. Enjoy your vegetables and think of me once in a while as I freeze myself over the winter.
Your island is *so* pretty :-)
Ha, one of these years, I will stop saying I want to grow something and actually try it out. :-P
Sandra: I thought of you as I wrote this;) We are cooking here & you are about to freeze. Such an odd, odd world.
The island is so pretty is it any wonder I never want to leave it ~ not even so my Ditz can sing like a canary.
Go on! You know you want to grow tomatoes like mine! ☺
Delish! Our tomatoes are only at the flowering stage as yet but soon...soon! Enjoy!
And what a view at that--beautiful!
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
However, I've had my fill of tomatoes for awhile, thank you very much.
The view is really something ~ the soil something else entirely!
The tomatoes have sooo much flavour. Mmmmm...
